Create & Develop Soundtracks: Mahesh's Playlist

For July's playlist, we're truly excited to introduce the musical choices of a true industry gent whom we've had the pleasure of working in partnership with for many years - Mahesh Patel.

Mahesh has been the Chief Financial Officer of The Kamani Family Office since March 2017. The Kamani Family are known for taking their "market stall" business in the 1970's to becoming a leading fast fashion online retailer called Boohoo.com which is listed on the Alternative Investment Market on the London Stock Exchange.

Mahesh qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1992 but very quickly had ambitions to work in industry and joined a company that was manufacturing ladies knitwear in Moss Side. His career spanned nearly 25 years with this Group which ultimately became an online business.

His roles within the extended group were diverse including Group Financial Controller, Finance Director, General Manager and Managing Director. His primary role was to take the group global and he spent extensive time working in Amsterdam , New York , Dhaka , Hong Kong and Macau.

Mahesh's vision and drive has helped him grow businesses exponentially with global presence and his greatest achievement taking a small manufacturing concern in the 90's to becoming one of the market leaders in the online fashion space.

On his playlist, Mahesh says;-

"Most of the songs are from the 80’s which was the era I was growing up and able to buy records for the first time in my life. Loads of happy memories watching a lot of these bands live when I was at Manchester Polytechnic and during the early part of my working career including OMD , Tears for Fears , Aztec Camera and Suzanne Vega.

Some of the more recent songs that I came to love come from the lyrics and their meaning ie Baby Elian and Drops of Jupiter"
