The acclaimed superstar stole the limelight in the extravagant Comme Des Garçons masterpiece, which perfectly captured the theme of the event, which was dedicated to the brand's designer Rei Kawakubo
The Gala is the highlight of the fashion calendar and Rhianna’s dress was certainly fitting to the theme and you cannot ignore her headlining all of todays write ups from Vogue along with fashion news on the likes of twitter
Comme des Garçons designer Rei Kawakuboas named as this year's theme, the famed fund-raiser provided plenty of spectacles. The Tokyo-based designer has been deemed worthy of the solo focus of this year's gala - which inaugurates the museum's eagerly awaited exhibit of her label
The 74-year-old officially founded her cerebral design house in 1973 to critical acclaim, and was dubbed 'anti-fashion' for challenging the notions of beauty with her innovative visuals. Comme des Garcons has been showing collections in Paris each season since 1981. The Metropolitan Museum in New York - where the annual gala is held - is displaying 120 Comme des Garçons womenswear designs by Kawakubo, spanning the past 35 years, since her first Paris show.
So from the great to the good of the realms of the fashion world, who else stole limelight on the night?
Cara Delevingne arrived in a silver Chanel, sporting a statement hair do continuing the silver jewelled theme, however, Gigi Hadid opted for an asymmetrical Tommy Hilfiger dress, with the Gala co-host Katy Perry in a custom Maison Margiela gown by John Galliano.
Gisele Bündchen arrived in a silver gown by Stella McCartney for the Green Carpet Challenge, whilst Kendall Jenner stunned in an outfit by La Perla. Not to be outdone, Bella Hadid wore a jumpsuit by Alexander Wang, teamed with Bulgari jewellery and clearly was going all out showing the weekend what he was missing.
Some real statement pieces taking the Comme Des Garcons theme to the next level with others opting for more classical pieces such as Alex Rodriguez and Jennifer Lopez, who arrived in Valentino.
The next few days we’ll no doubt see the fashion world discussing the fashion favourites and the fashion disasters from the Gala attendees!
